Piles of Smiles

Before and definitely after the twinseys were born, I was an avid scrap booker. I then fell into the same bog so many of us scrappers do...I've taken thousands of pictures of our daily lives and special moments but couldn't "keep up" scrapping all of the wonderful things that happen in our lives.I got discouraged, felt like I was behind and would never "catch up". Sound familiar?  ;D

Well, I'm turning over a new leaf (or piece of paper...hee-hee) and I am going to scrapbook the pictures that delight me or speak to me in the moment. No more worrying about catching up. Wow... that makes me feel so excited!  

The Twinseys were in kindergarten. I picked them up from school with their little Indian head bands on. There was a wonderful afternoon of imaginative play to be had that day! Fall is such a fun time. I'm so happy I caught them in a moment of happiness and giggles.  ;D

Double Digits!

The twinseys turned ten this week!

I remember when they were little babies and people would constantly tell me "savor this time...it passes quickly and then they are grown!" I would smile and think to my sleep dazed self...yeah ok, well these sleep interrupted nights seem forever!

Well of course at ten they generally sleep through the night ... and yes, this precious time with my sweet babies is flying by! Now I find myself giving the same advice to other new moms. (grin)

Summer Fun Memories

Good morning! It's Wednesday and the challenge at Isabella's Challenge Blog is to do a summer fun themed card.

My sisters and I had the pleasure of spending many fun, busy, very happy hours out at "the ranch". It wasn't really a ranch...it was just a few acres of my grandparents land.There were a couple big gardens, a few fruit trees, 2 dogs, assorted cats, rabbits, 2 or 3 cows, 30 or so chickens, ducks, guinea hens and at one time or another peacocks even wandered in from heaven knows where! 

My grandma was an obstetrics nurse at a hospital about an hours drive from the ranch. She didn't just concern herself with human babies though...there was usually a cardboard box or two in the living room with light bulbs keeping some little baby critter warm and snug.

My grandparents also grew African violets. They were members of an African violet club in town. One of our summer chores was to water the treys upon treys of violets. The violets even had their own large room in my grandparents home called the "violet room"...of course! ;D We absolutely loved spending weeks at a time with my Grandma and Grandpa Roe. They are both in Heaven now...and I am such a lucky girl to have had them in my life!

A Father's Day Collaboration

Good morning! Isabella's Challenge blog will have a lot of great "man" cards posted this week. Those manly cards are a real challenge for a lot of us. I know they are for me! ;D  

So for some inspiration go check out the DT's examples...I know you will find some great Inspiration!

The card I made is for my DH. When I saw this image by Isabella I was so reminded of my DH and our little 8 year old Connor. Fishing is one of the many things they enjoy doing together.

The other very special thing about this card is the photo I used behind my colored image.This is one of the beautiful photos my Dad used to take on his almost weekly fishing trips.

I've never met anyone who loved being out in his boat so very much. I remember when I was a little girl and even sometimes as a teenager...my Mom would wake me up early on a Saturday morning and whisper "Your Dad is going fishing...I hate for him to go alone...will you go?" I grumbled a little about being woken so early but I truly loved being out with my Dad. He was so very patient...NEVER got cross if my fishing line and lure ended up caught in the trees and bushes and spent half the day untangling my line!

Such a big ole sweetie of a bear! Man I miss him. He passed away 3 months before my twins were born. He had been looking forward to his new little fishing buddies so very much!

Well...after finishing this card...I realized it was as much for my Dad as it is for my sweet husband. And that's a good thing. They were great friends and great fishing buddies.

I used Isabella's Dad digital image. I colored then cut out the center and layered both pieces onto my Dad's photo. It's one of my favorite cards. 

All card stock is by Gina K Designs.   The image was sponged with Momento inks and accented with Sakura clear gel pen.  Other: eyelets,twine, Gina K ribbon and patterned paper by DCWV

I feel so guilty!

Happy New Year! I'm not one to make a bunch of New Year's resolutions...I set a goal or two but thats about it. I learned a long time ago that those resolutions set and not achieved led to too many guilty feelings! 

I wanna feel good baby! No time for guilty feelings here! Which means today I will be sitting at my computer designing a Happy New Years card.

You see, the Christmas photo cards of my sweet little twinseys sitting on Santa's lap...well...who knows where they are...lost in the mail?  I've been to busy to call the company I ordered them from to find out what happened. I know I didn't get them.

Sooooo...I am feeling incredibly guilty about not sending out Christmas greetings this year! I'll check in later to share what I come up with.
